Creation Weekend Celebration 2008 |
"For in six days the Lord made the Heavens and the earth, the sea and all that is in them " (Ex 20:11) On behalf of the omnipotent Creator God Jehovah, King of the Universe, and Judeo-Christian believers everywhere, we inaugurate September 26-29, 2008 as Creation Weekend. Congregations all over the nation are invited to commemorate the Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashanah by gathering to celebrate Creation and extolling the attributes of our God, which are clearly seen through the things that are made, so that man has no excuse [to deny the Creation and the global flood of Noah] (Rom 1:20). For in six [24-hour] days, God created the heavens, the earth, the seas, and all that is in them, and on the seventh day He rested (Ex 20:11). And for His will, they were created; for this He is worthy to receive glory and honor and power and blessing forever and ever (Rev. 4:10, 11), which is the everlasting Gospel (Rev 14:4). The works of the LORD are great, sought out by all those who have pleasure in them. His work is honorable and glorious; and His righteousness endures forever (Ps 111:2-3). It is fitting that we should observe Creation Weekend, because God has made His wonderful works to be remembered (Ps 111:4). It is planned to observe this event annually at the anniversary of the Creation. Worship leaders are encouraged to present a message highlighting the truths of Biblical creation and its relevance to the gospel. For the gods of all nations are lifeless idols, but the Lord made the heavens, (Ps 96:5), and the heavens declare His glory! (Ps 19:1). He is to be reverently feared and worshipped above all so-called gods (Ps 96:4). From the beginning, He created mankind, male and female, in His own image, to have fellowship with Him (Gen 1,2), to fear God, worship Him, and keep His commandments (Ecc 12:13). He has made us a little lower than the angels, and crowned us with glory and honor and set mankind over the works of His hands (Heb 2:7). And the good news is that in spite of our sin, we have eternal life through His Son Jesus Christ, our Lord (Rom 6:23), who has by His sacrifice restored us to fellowship with Him, being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus (Rom 3:24). For God so loved the world that He gave His only-begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life (John 3:16). Halleluia! |
