Kangaroo |
![]() Kangaroos have a chambered stomach (similar to cattle and sheep) which allow them to regurgitate what they have already eaten, chew their cud, and again swallow the vegetation for a final digestion. When they sense danger, roos will thump the ground with their feet to warn others in their group of impending danger. Although Australia is home to a variety of marsupials (such as the kangaroo), living marsupials (opossums) are also found In North and South America, and fossil marsupials have been found on every continent. Likewise, monotremes (e.g. the platypus were once thought to be unique to Australia, but in 1991, a fossil platypus tooth was discovered in South America, disproving that idea. |
